Full Day Excursion – Today, we visit Henry VIII’s favourite royal residence at Hampton Court Palace. There are many things to see including Henry VIII’s Great Hall – England’s last and greatest medieval hall, the beautiful Chapel Royal, Henry VIII’s kitchens, William III’s apartments, the Kitchen Garden. We will then visit one of the greatest gardens in the world, RHS Garden Wisley, in the heart of Surrey.
Full Day Excursion – ‘Midsomer Murders’ with a local guide – we will enjoy a scenic tour of some of the filming locations for the hugely popular Midsomer Murders. Our day begins with a visit to Dorchesteron- Thames, a pretty country village overlooked by the impressive Dorchester Abbey. The abbey’s museum appears as Midsomer Newton Museum in the episode ‘The House in the Woods’. We continue our Midsomer Murders theme with a visit to the historic town of Wallingford, a traditional market town mentioned in the Magna Carta, that played a big role in English history. Fans of the series however will recognise Wallingford as Causton, the capital of fictitious Midsomer County. We then travel to Henley-on-Thames, one of the most beautiful towns in England. We can enjoy spending the rest of the day browsing the local boutiques and perhaps pay a visit to the Henley Rowing Museum.
We sometimes make changes to journeys and excursion in response to adverse weather conditions, road repairs, road congestion and other local factors. In these circumstances the driver/company will exercise discretion reasonably having all due consideration to the relevant factors and as a result there may be changes to the planned journey.
