Tuesday 8th September 2020

After your collection from home we depart on the morning sailing to Heysham. Onward coach journey to the Newby Bridge Hotel, near Lake Windermere.

Wednesday 9th to Saturday 12th

Excursions will be taken as listed in the tour itinerary.

Sunday 13th September 2020

After breakfast this morning we make the short journey to Heysham. The afternoon sailing is taken and on arrival in Douglas the ‘Door to Door’ service will take you home. 

Newby Bridge Hotel

This charming 3 star Georgian mansion hotel is located on the southern shore of Lake Windermere, offering a tranquil retreat in the heart of the Lake District National Park. Situated within its own grounds, the hotel is traditionally decorated with several rooms having original features including wood panelling and log fires. Each of the 44 bedrooms differs in size and all are traditionally decorated. The restaurant overlooks the Mediterranean gardens and the kitchen garden supplies most of the fresh produce. There is no lift, however ground floor rooms are available. There is also a small leisure centre with an indoor swimming pool, exclusive to hotel guests.

Full day excursion to –

Trio of Transport Treats & Afternoon Tea

Today we enjoy a trio of transport treats beginning with a 40 minute Windermere cruise from Bowness to Lakeside pier before we embark on a nostalgic 20 minute steam train journey on the Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway. When we arrive at Haverthwaite station we enjoy a lovely afternoon tea before we visit the Lakeland Motor Museum, featuring a unique collection of 30,000 exhibits.

Dalemain Estate & Ullswater Steamers

This morning we visit Dalemain Mansion, a unique and slightly quirky historic house where we enjoy a guided tour. The house is set within five acres of historic gardens, home to the very special Dalemain Blue poppies. Don’t forget to visit the gift shop to purchase some award winning marmalades! In the afternoon we travel to nearby Pooley Bridge and

enjoy a scenic 1 hour Ullswater Steamer cruise.

Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway & Muncaster Castle

This morning, we start with a return steam train journey on the Ravenglass & Eskdale Steam Railway from the coastal village of Ravenglass to the very heart of the Lake District, Dalegarth, where we disembark for a short break before our 40 minute return journey. Once back at Ravenglass station, we re-join our coach for a short 10 minute drive to Muncaster Castle, Gardens, Hawk and Owl Centre, where we spend time exploring this haunted castle and its grounds!
