After your collection from home we depart on the morning sailing to Heysham. Onward coach journey to our overnight hotel at Novotel Nottingham/Derby.

Thursday 24th September 2020

This morning we will have a leisurely journey to our main stay hotel at Colchester.

Friday 25th to Sunday 27th September 2020

Excursions will be taken as listed in the tour itinerary.

Monday 28th September 2020

After breakfast this morning we make the journey to our overnight hotel at Leyland.

Tuesday 29th September 2020

A short journey today for us to arrive in time for the afternoon sailing from Heysham to Douglas. Our ‘Door to Door’ service will take you home from the Sea Terminal.

TOUR ITINERARY

Full day excursion to –

This morning we visit the breathtaking Beth Chatto Gardens created by ten times Chelsea Gold Medal winner, Beth Chatto. During the Gardeners Tour we are given an in-depth insight into the philosophy and history of Beth Chatto and her gardens. We spend the rest of the day in Colchester, the oldest recorded town in the country. From a Roman Temple, Norman Castle anmedieval timber framed houses to Victorian architectural splendour, there is plenty for us to explore at our leisure.

Full day excursion to –

This morning we travel to the delightful medieval market town of Saffron Walden. Don’t miss the beautiful Bridge End Garden, a restored Victorian garden with a wonderful yew hedge maze and sunken Dutch Garden. We then make our way to Audley End House & Gardens. Built in the 1600s and lived in until 1948, this Jacobean mansion has been

re-dressed to evoke its Victorian heyday both above and below stairs. There are also stunning ‘Capability’ Brown landscaped gardens and horses to visit in the working stable block.

Full day excursion to –

This morning, we will enjoy a half day ‘step-on’ guided tour of Constable Country, which will include Dedham Vale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the area where John Constable lived and created most of his paintings, the chocolate-box village of Lavenham, known as England’s finest medieval village, and Sudbury, birthplace of Thomas Gainsborough. In the early afternoon, we make our way to Tiptree which is famous for its delicious preserves. Once there, we will enjoy time in the Visitor Centre (free entry) where we learn more about the history of the village and the making of different preserves.
